A Note in a Creamer

an odd place to find
a note for someone.
The note shivering in a creamer,
swimming in the foggy light.

You follow the note
one person to the next
in this great line around
the town, going and going, inspiring
everyone, until it is
a shriveled piece of paper.

Strolling in the darkness
with midnight cats,
you see the light of the note.
It can not hide
in its shadow anymore,
the shadow of words and wisdom.

You open the note: It says your run
of confusion has come to pass,
go home, your dream
no longer distant.
