Imagining Your Mother’s Dreams

You watched your mother
as she slept beside you. Her
hands were clasped beneath
her head as though she held a prayer
between them.

You wondered if
she dreamt that each
color in the sunrise
echoed a note through the sky,
creating a melody that
only the angels in Heaven
could sing.

You wanted her
to dream peaceful dreams,
as you watched her breathe
warm breaths through
her parted lips.
