Knitting

         forever patterns bound
            in queenly lines
               it is deftness
         needles motherly click
            as if it is softly
               reprimanding me
         for a dropped stitch
            flowing as a calm
          stream would
            burbling a whisper
             the stitch slips
              and is gone
                done up in a
               finishing row
                  of hard thin
                     stitches
               sealed for life
            done.
