Where Dunes Stood, Regal in the Summer,

the cold pulls darkness closer.
and snowdrifts now stretch into the sky.
The lake seems ancient now
In the trap of winter, caught under ice and sky.
Tomorrow the sun will come back to life
Among the ashes of yesterday
And I will be far from this place
And the waves that once broke here.
