Everybody has something that they like to do, and like to invest their time in, and one of the things I enjoy doing is write poetry. For me, poetry is a way of looking at normal things and showing them in an original way, and in a way that appeals to the senses. I like writing poetry because the simple things in life can be translated into beautiful words that express different moods. Poetry is 3-Dimensional: you can talk about the most random things and they can be meaningful when you apply them to relevant things in your life. They take the mind to a captivating place where your imagination is never limited, and where the combination of words make colorful, heartfelt statements.
I like writing poetry because I can make boring things into things more fascinating than anyone would ever think, through the simple power of description and expression! For instance instead of simply saying, "There was lipstick on the coffee mug," you could say something like 'the oval white curves of the coffee cup was tainted by the intense red lipstick, vocalizing to me across the room, that was glossed with the rays of the morning sunshine.'" Do you see how the poetic way of saying something draws you in? How it makes you wonder how something so imaginative can be put into words? That is another reason why I like poetry. And poetry is also a way to expand the artistry of the mind.
Writing poetry helps you to look at everything in a new approach. Rather than glaring at the television or the wall and being content with what you see, you instead look at it in a way that surpasses the simpleness of the topic itself! You gain new tolerance for simple things and appreciate the poetic detail of them.
So, obviously, you can probably tell that I definitely encourage writing poetry for many reasons. When you’re bored with watching TV, grab a pen and start creating magic!
