An Ode to Chuck Taylor

Dressed to impress
In beat up Chucks
Their tongues licking
The ground with
Every shuffling step.
Gobbling gum wrappers,
Soaking newspaper stories
Into their soles.
Proudly sporting a
Dirt smudge from D.C.,
And a freckled pebble
Nestled deep into
It’s canvas skin
Is a constant reminder
Of the possibilities
At your feet.
