You Had Walked Out Between These Skies Before

floating between them with the sandy dock at your feet.
Above you, the stars opened farther than your eyes could follow;
below you, they rippled awake from their stillness
as a minnow wriggled his way through their midst.
You stared up above you at a falling star
that dropped into your pupil.
Now you see it again in dreams
and remember the way
you wanted to stay among these stars
until they fell behind the sunrise.
