New Contest for Festival Literary Awards: Deadline: February 26

A new contest awaits! The festival of Literary Awards is hosting a contest for all ages this month. It is a great opportunity to familiarize oneself with contests and have fun, too. There's some powerful incentive in this competition: if your entry places, you will be notified, your entry published in the May issue of On-the-Town (a widely read publication) and posted at www.mlive.com/onthetown . All winners will also receive a cash prize from Festival. The deadline is a little more than a month away- February 26th.

There are several different categories but each person is only allowed one entry per category. Categories are as follows: fiction and non-fiction works (both allowed only up to 1000 words) and poetry. Divisions are adult, 19 and over; young adult, ages 13 to 18; and children, age 12 and under.

All entries NEED a cover page with your name, address, phone number, category and division.
Example: Joanne Bailey, 3232 Courtfield Dr. NE , Grand Rapids , MI 77224 . 616-222-5151. Poetry, Adult. No name or any other identifying information may appear on the actual story or poem.

Written submissions should NOT be stapled together. Paperclips may be used instead. Two copies of every submission sent via "snail mail" must be included. For those who are unaware, "snail mail" is the act of putting a submission in an envelope, addressing and placing a stamp in the corner of said envelope, and inserting the envelope into a mailbox. All adult and young adult entries should be typed. (Submissions may be typed by another person other than the author.)

For electronic submissions, only those submissions sent to the e-mail address at festivalliterary@live.com will be accepted. These submissions must also have the cover letter.
