planning meals

leftover curry in the broken-bulb fridge, peanut grease
coats the edges of the box, my mouth, in yellow smears.
digestive ginger tea like tattoo ink smells.
dollar store cookies eaten with a fork.
after-dinner mint melts on my tongue, a hard clump of sand separating,
dry toast crumbles on coffee filter paper.

children dance in beer spilled on the pavement.
