Scuba Diving off the Reef

The spindly sea horse
woven into the coral like a thread.
The spiraling tail starts to take
on color, a light shade of pink,
then vanishes.

"Look closer," the ocean breathes,
as a tiny shimmer from the sun
shines on the coral.

You gaze out at the salty reef
and find the sea horse.
Its craggy back rigid with bumps,
it unspins itself
and fades away into the blue.
