As the Morning Peeks through the Clouds, a Girl Skips down the Lane, Joy

jumping with each foot,
hair bouncing in a rosy curl,
wearing her sun-dipped boots and
yellow raincoat, she’s ready.
The springtime air picks up her
heart, sends it flying.
Her smile partners with the sun as
she approaches the gathering of water.
She stares at it intently, then slowly bends
her knees, eyes in a slit, ready,
then her feet rocket from the ground.
She rides the sky, her eyes widening, touched by wonder.
As she hits the puddle, water takes flight. It
tickles the clouds, turning white, then
reluctantly lies back down. The girl stands,
awed, speechless as the ripple.
