The 100 Word Contest Results Will Be Revealed Again

The class is glazed and nervous.
The paper hides the answer
to be exposed to the world.
Ears strain for the unsurprising announcement.
I smile and shyly accept
oozing chocolate.

My eyes catch the gloom of drooping faces.
Groans throb in their chamber of sadness.
I see pinched faces,
hands gripping sharpened pencils.
Their tips shattering on weary papers,
they rip at the wrath of their angry erasers.
Faces stare and whisper,
then turn and leave me
filled with the agony of winning.
